Fix Steam Slow Download Speeds

Solve slow download and patching speeds on Steam by updating your download region to a less saturated server location.

Update Steam Region

Change your active Steam download region to a different nearby city server area to bypass local bandwidth throttling and server congestion.

# Step 1: Change Download Server Hub

Local servers can get overloaded when large game updates launch, significantly throttling your speeds: 1. Inside Steam, click Steam > Settings in the top menu. 2. Select the Downloads option tab on the left. 3. Under the Download Region dropdown menu, select a different, nearby metropolitan city (or sometimes a neighboring country).

# Step 2: Disable Bandwidth Limit Policies

1. In the same Downloads tab settings, scroll down to check outstanding download speed limit options. 2. Ensure Limit bandwidth to and Throttle downloads while streaming are completely unchecked. 3. Click OK, restart Steam, and experience maximum download speeds.
