To fix a Steam Deck with a black screen but active sounds, force-reboot the bios parameters and run battery storage resets.

Power Cycle & Storage Mode

Hold down the Volume Down and Power buttons together while connecting the charger to force reboot locked Steam Deck chipsets.

# Step 1: Hard Reboot the Deck

If the deck plays game audio but stays black, the display connection parameters are stuck: 1. Connect your official charging adapter. 2. Hold down the physical Power Button for 15 full seconds output to completely drain internal chip caps. 3. Turn it on. If still black, we will force a BIOS load.

# Step 2: Access BIOS Mode

1. Turn off your device. 2. Hold Volume Up (+) button and tap the Power Button once. 3. Keep holding Volume Up until the BIOS utility menu tone plays. 4. Go to Setup Utility, navigate to Power menu, and set Battery Storage Mode to active. Wait 5 minutes, plug in power, and start up cleanly.
